Colorful Zigs
November, 2023
36” wide x 24” height on textured paper made from 100% cotton fibers (Red River Paper) - created with very high archival standards
Painted completely within a vector graphics program called Inkscape - November 2023
I created a colorful background of triangles and quadrangles.
After looking at it for a while, I opted to create an overlay (in effect a second plate) with a series of geometric shapes.
The colors and shapes also give this a tropical feel, which cheered me up from November’s bleak weather.
Similar to my Homage to Jimmy Ernst, this became a jig saw puzzle.
I strived to interlace the shape and accent the nodes.
It took approximately 3 weeks, and multiple test prints until the piece came together.
1 print was finished.
